Engagement photos or proposal photos: which one do you need?
Engagement photos are taken after the proposal. You are already engaged — in Venice, or somewhere else entirely — and you want photographs of the two of you here. That is this page.
Proposal photos are something else: the photos of the moment itself, when one of you asks. That is a separate session — you will find it on the prices page linked below. The two often blend into each other — right after a proposal I keep shooting, and the photos of the celebration are, in practice, an engagement session.

How does an engagement photoshoot in Venice work, step by step?
- You tell me the basics. Your dates, where you are staying, and whether you want the gondola.
- I suggest a time and a route. Early morning if you can manage it: Venice is empty and we can photograph almost anywhere.
- You pay to hold the date. 100% upfront, by card, PayPal or bank transfer. Fully refundable up to 24 hours before the session.
- We meet and we shoot. In St Mark’s Square, in front of the Gran Caffè Quadri — at your hotel if the route starts there, or somewhere quieter, such as Campo San Vio, for a late-afternoon session. I will ask you for a recent photo so I recognise you. Travel light.
- You get the photos. 3 preview photos within 48 hours, and the full edited gallery in 5 working days — details and the Carnival exception under the prices below.
Where do we take engagement photos in Venice, and at what time?
Early in the morning, almost anywhere. Before the day visitors arrive, St Mark’s Square and the bridge in front of the Doge’s Palace, with the Bridge of Sighs behind you, are empty — impossible a few hours later.
After 9 am I leave the famous views and take you to the quieter parts of the city — back canals and small bridges a few minutes from the crowds, often starting from your hotel.
Late in the afternoon we leave the centre altogether: for example, we meet in Campo San Vio, in Dorsoduro, and finish with the gondola at sunset. For a sunset with the whole skyline of Venice behind you, San Giorgio Maggiore: three minutes by waterbus from St Mark’s, and better light than the square itself. In winter, when fog is likely, I keep to St Mark’s in the morning: there are backdrops close by to work with, while from San Giorgio the skyline disappears.

How much does an engagement photoshoot in Venice cost, and what do I get?

Engagement sessions are priced as couple sessions.
How long the session should be. One hour is a calm walk through the city, on foot. If you want the gondola too, I recommend 90 minutes. I do not offer anything shorter: 30 minutes is rushed, and it shows. The price is set by the time, not by the number of photos.
When you get them. 3 preview photos within 48 hours, and the full edited gallery in 5 working days — Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not counted. From May to September, when many sessions overlap, allow a few extra days. During Carnival there are no previews and the gallery takes 7 working days — it is the busiest time of the year and I would rather give you a date I can keep. Need everything faster? Express delivery of the entire gallery in 24 hours: +€150.
How long the gallery stays online. 3 months for the one-hour and 90-minute sessions, 6 months for the two-hour session. That is your time to choose your favourites, share them with friends and family, and download them. You do not lose anything when it closes: once downloaded, the photos are yours forever.

Can we add a gondola?
Yes, we can add it. The gondola service starts at 9 am, and I plan the session around it.
The fare is set by the city and is not included in my price: you’ll pay €90 in cash directly to the gondolier for the standard 30-minute ride (9 am to 7 pm; €110 after 7 pm). Some gondoliers take cards, some make a fuss: bring cash. A tip is common, if you feel like it. Rates as of October 2026 — they can change.
I always suggest not booking the gondola in advance. You cannot normally choose the boat or the gondolier anyway — they work in rotation, and you get the next one available. At the station by the Hotel Danieli at 9 am, when they open, there is usually little or no wait. And if a shower is on its way, we wait under cover and get on afterwards.
Thirty minutes is plenty. In a gondola you cannot move around much, so the photos are fairly still — some gondoliers let you change position when the water is calm, some don’t. A serenade? Lovely to hear, impossible to photograph: the musician sits in the boat and ends up in every frame.
